Last week I started my placement, and I’ve been working full time almost every day since! It’s very tricky going from spending all day every day unemployment and bored, to working long days and being busy! But life is great for me at the moment as I’m spending my days working with fascinating people and running around fascinating rockpools :)
Today, for example, I saw some fish hiding in rocks almost two metres above the tide line, rare sea slugs protecting some eggs, and a vicious hermit crab!
The only downside is I’m so busy now I’m barely coming online… Shocking! Hopefully I’ll still have time to come on tumblr though, just not as much as I would like to!
I had my first day on my placement today. I’m now officially a Marine Awareness Assistant at Wembury Marine Centre, Devon! Today I had lunch on the beach in the sun, drank tea, met lots of great people and went rockpooling.
I will be spending almost every day for the next six months on a beach rockpooling, giving talks, and looking after marine wildlife. Can’t think of a better way to spend my summer :)
Today I drove down to the marine centre where I will start a placement at on Monday. The weather is glorious outside, and right now I can’t believe how lucky I am to spend my summer running around the rockpools here, all in the name of environmental education.
To me, this is paradise.
